Community Guidelines
ChatKC should feel expressive, local, creative, and human. These rules apply to profiles, posts, blogs, comments, messages, media, groups, events, marketplace-style features, themes, yearbooks, and every other ChatKC surface. They apply to public and private interactions.
Respect people and boundaries
No harassment, bullying, threats, stalking, unwanted sexual contact, targeted humiliation, dogpiling, repeated unwanted messages, or coordinated abuse. Do not encourage others to attack someone. Respect blocks and clear requests to stop.
No hate or dehumanization
Do not attack, exclude, degrade, or promote hatred against people based on race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, caste, disability, serious disease, sex, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, age, or another protected characteristic. Contextual counterspeech, education, documentary material, and reclamation may be allowed when the purpose is clear.
Protect minors
Sexual exploitation or abuse of minors, grooming, sexualized content involving minors, sextortion, trafficking, and attempts to obtain intimate material are prohibited. Do not share identifying information that puts a young person at risk. We may preserve and report apparent child sexual abuse material to appropriate authorities.
Sexual content and intimate privacy
No non-consensual intimate imagery, sexual extortion, voyeuristic material, offers of sexual services, or explicit sexual content intended to evade safety controls. Never threaten to reveal intimate or private material. Limited non-explicit discussion of sexuality, health, identity, art, or news may be allowed when appropriate and lawful.
Violence, dangerous activity, and self-harm
Do not make credible threats, praise or coordinate violent extremist activity, share graphic violence to shock or glorify harm, encourage suicide or self-injury, or provide instructions intended to facilitate serious harm. Good-faith prevention, recovery, news, artistic, and educational discussions may be allowed with context. If someone may be in immediate danger, contact emergency services rather than relying on ChatKC.
Privacy and personal information
Do not dox people, expose private contact or location information, publish sensitive records, share private communications without a legitimate basis, or use media of someone in a way that violates their reasonable expectations. Get permission before featuring people in yearbooks, Scene Packs, event media, or other collaborative memories.
Authenticity, scams, and manipulation
No impersonation, phishing, fraud, deceptive fundraising, fake tickets, romance or investment scams, malware, coordinated fake engagement, undisclosed automation that misleads people, or manipulated media presented to cause material harm. Parody, fan, role-play, and AI-assisted content must not misleadingly present themselves as a real person or official source.
Spam and platform integrity
Do not send repetitive unwanted promotions, mass mentions or messages, misleading links, artificial reactions, or automated activity that burdens the Service. Do not scrape personal data, evade restrictions, create accounts to bypass enforcement, probe other accounts, or interfere with security and reliability.
Illegal and regulated activity
Do not use ChatKC to buy, sell, or facilitate illegal drugs, weapons, stolen goods, human exploitation, fraudulent documents, or other unlawful transactions. Regulated goods and age-restricted events must follow applicable law and any additional ChatKC restrictions.
Intellectual property
Share only content you created or have permission to use. Respect copyright, trademark, publicity, and music-performance rights. Local artists, photographers, venues, promoters, and community historians deserve accurate credit and consent.
Local community features
Represent event times, locations, accessibility, prices, opportunities, and organizer identity honestly. Group leaders and collaborative editors may set additional rules, but those rules cannot override ChatKC safety standards. Profile customization may be playful, but it cannot hide reporting, blocking, privacy, attribution, or other required safety controls.
Reporting, blocking, and enforcement
Use clearly labeled report and block controls or create a support ticket. Context, severity, intent, impact, public interest, and account history inform decisions. Actions may include warnings, labels, reduced distribution, content removal, feature restrictions, suspension, or permanent bans. We prioritize imminent harm, child safety, and coordinated abuse. Eligible decisions can be appealed in Settings.
