Terms of Service

These Terms govern your access to ChatKC’s websites, future mobile applications, APIs, emails, and related services (the “Service”). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms, our Privacy Policy, and our Community Guidelines.

Who may use ChatKC

You must be at least 13 years old and legally able to agree to these Terms. If you are under the age of majority where you live, a parent or guardian should review these Terms with you. You may not use ChatKC if law bars you from receiving the Service or if we previously disabled your account for a serious violation.

Your account and security

Provide accurate information, keep it current, protect your credentials, and promptly report unauthorized access. You may not sell, transfer, rent, or share account access. You are responsible for activity under your account except where applicable law provides otherwise. ChatKC staff will never ask for your password.

Your content and permissions

You retain ownership of content you create. You grant ChatKC a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, cache, process, reproduce, adapt for technical delivery, display, and distribute that content only as necessary to operate, secure, moderate, and improve the Service according to your settings. This license includes creating thumbnails, transcoding media, and delivering content through approved service providers. It ends when the content is deleted, subject to reasonable backup expiration, content others have reshared, legal duties, and preserved safety evidence.

You represent that you have the rights and permissions needed to upload your content and that doing so does not violate law or another person’s privacy, publicity, intellectual-property, or contractual rights. Respect music, photography, event, and venue rights when sharing local culture.

Acceptable use

You must follow the Community Guidelines. Do not break the law; exploit or endanger minors; harass, threaten, stalk, or impersonate people; share non-consensual intimate material; facilitate dangerous or illegal transactions; spread malware; send spam; manipulate engagement; scrape personal data; reverse engineer protected parts of the Service; bypass access or safety controls; or interfere with ChatKC or its members.

Moderation, reports, and appeals

We may investigate reports and use automated signals and trained reviewers to enforce these Terms. Depending on context and severity, we may label or limit content, reduce distribution, remove content, restrict features, suspend or terminate accounts, preserve evidence, or contact appropriate authorities. Eligible decisions may be appealed through Settings. We may act immediately when necessary to protect people or the Service.

Third-party content and services

The Service may link to third-party websites, embeds, events, merchants, or services. ChatKC does not control them and is not responsible for their content, availability, or practices. Your use of third-party services is governed by their terms. Links do not imply endorsement.

Mobile app stores

If you obtain a ChatKC app through Apple’s App Store or Google Play, the applicable store terms also apply. These Terms are between you and ChatKC, not the store operator. The store operator is not responsible for providing the Service, maintenance, support, or addressing claims about the Service except as required by its own terms or law.

ChatKC intellectual property

ChatKC’s software, branding, interface, and other materials—excluding member content—are owned by ChatKC or its licensors and protected by law. These Terms give you a limited, personal, revocable, non-transferable right to use the Service as intended. They do not grant rights to use ChatKC names, logos, or source code.

Copyright and other rights

If you believe content infringes your copyright or other rights, use the reporting tools or email legal@chatkc.com with identification of the work, the content, your contact information, a good-faith statement, and any legally required declaration. We may remove material and restrict repeat infringers after appropriate review.

Service changes and beta availability

ChatKC is in pre-beta. Features may change, be interrupted, or be withdrawn, and beta data may require repair. We may update the Service, impose reasonable limits, or discontinue features. We will provide notice when reasonably possible if a change materially affects member rights or paid services.

Disclaimers and limits

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Service is provided “as is” and “as available.” We do not promise uninterrupted availability or that all member content is accurate or safe. Nothing in these Terms excludes warranties, remedies, or liability that cannot legally be excluded. To the fullest extent permitted by law, ChatKC will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from use of the Service. Final liability limits and governing-law terms will be confirmed before general public launch after the operator entity and jurisdictions are finalized.

Ending use of the Service

You may stop using ChatKC, deactivate your account, or request deletion through Settings. We may suspend or terminate access for violations, legal requirements, prolonged inactivity, security risk, or discontinuation. Provisions that by their nature should survive—such as ownership, preserved licenses, disclaimers, limits, and dispute terms—continue after termination.

Changes and contact

We may update these Terms as the Service develops. We will post the updated version and provide additional notice before material changes take effect when required. Continued use after the effective date means you accept the revised Terms where permitted by law. Questions may be sent to legal@chatkc.com. These Terms require qualified counsel review before general public launch and app-store submission.
